Tips to Build Meaningful Twitter Conversations
Tips to Build Meaningful Twitter Conversations
While Twitter is a great way to build awareness for your brand, network or connect with your customer, how does one navigate through all the noise? Searching for specific Hashtags (such as #realtors) are a good way to find real-time discussions around particular topics. Hundreds of tweets and conversations happen on Twitter at any given moment, what would be the best way to join in on conversations that are relevant to your business or personal interests and gain real followers.
1. Anticipate Conversations
Know what’s going on, research. Trending topics like changes to the MLS system or decreased sales could turn up using #MLS, #Vancouver or #RealEstate. Start thinking of the different types of conversations that you can tie-in to take advantage of current events, remember to participate. Tweet valuable content, attract the people you want by tweeting information that they will find interesting, helpful and informative.
2. Engage
Being willing to listen. Followers like to be heard, write original useful content, follow interesting people, be active, reply to questions, update on a regular basis, give your followers a reason to follow and value your tweets. It’s a lot like selling face to face, when you build personable relationships, it’s a lot easier to sell your brand.
3. Timing
Sure there is time to prepare for upcoming tweets, but there are times when unexpected conversations pop up or breaking news happen that you would want to take advantage of. Be prepared to have content that is available whether it be a blog post or video about your industry or business.
4. Be Relevant
Your input should always be relevant to the conversation, be yourself!
5. Spam
No-one likes a stream full of ‘for sale’ postings or buy XX brand for $1.99. Mass following while talking profusely about your brand would not get yourself noticed either. Value is also lost when it comes to Auto-DM’s, a personalized message would get you much further.
